Indian Hot Springs

I go about 76 miles from Estes Park and found an unknown jewel in Idaho Springs called Indian Hot Springs. It’s a great mix of history combined with relaxation and offers something different when it comes to hot springs. A visit is well worth the 1.5-hour drive, in part because these less frequented pools mean fewer crowds than some others offer by popularity (plus I love that its location is quite scenic).

I was impressed by the charming Victorian architecture of the resort when I first arrived. It’s like being transported back in time, but with all the contemporary features you would expect. This is the draw right here, all their different soaking types that call to you.

The indoor pool is beneath an exquisite dome of glass, turning this into a tropical oasis in the mountains. I could not help but be fascinated by the steam wafting out of the mineral sodded waters, winding its way up towards that dome. A view that never gets old, no matter how many times you come.

If you want with more privacy opt in to the geothermal caves. The artificial Myra caves feature private plunge pools at temperatures of (104-112°F / 40°-44°C). Climbing in one of these hidden grottos, I could feel the tensions and worries from everyday life sliding off my shoulders. The mood is zen, with dim lighting and rock walls that feel down naturally.

Outdoor Jacuzzi and mud baths are among the amenities available if you fancy a little more adventure. One special contrast I really liked was the hot mineral water to soak in juxtaposed with the cool mountain air. It’s exhilarating in a way that is difficult to put into words — you just have to feel it.

The one thing that I really like about such natural Hot Springs in Idaho is their this dedication to treating and healing ailments. This destination springs are remarkable in minerals, including Sulfate Calcium Sodium Magnesium. These minerals are believed to have various curative medicinal properties, from easing aching muscles to improving your skin.

The resort has also a spa where guests are treated to different services for those interested in expanding their comfort. After my bath, I indulged in getting a massage and it really was the perfect way to finish off.

SunWater Spa (139 Miles)

A little further out from Estes Park, nearly 139 miles away… I stumbled across SunWater Spa in Manitou Springs. It is a jaunt to get here but please, take my word for it—it’s worth every single mile.

When I arrived the first thing that impressed me was their take on hot springs. SunWater Spa differentiates itself from your standard hot springs resort. It goes something like your great-auntie’s 19th-century mineral soak meets a hint of contemporary wellness philosophy.

At the center of SunWater Spa is a true cedar mineral water tub Drawing from the world-renowned Seven Minute Spring, these wooden tubs are filled with natural mineral water that is heated by solar power. Well I just think that sharing his eco-friendly philosophy was impressive and calming to boot. I loved the way my skin felt against the knotty wood, with a subtle cedar essence settling into every pore of mine as I folded myself inside.

However, SunWater has unique wellness classes and treatments that make it very different from other places. I decided to give aqua yoga a try, and let me tell you – it was something completely different. It’s all very lovely and you can experience gentle yoga positions while in the nice warm water with its mineral solution. It is as soothing and relaxing as it sounds, but after I was running on so much energy that even walking felt put them sleep-inducing.

Decks on various levels of the spa with soaking tubs offer a different glimpse of the mountains. I hopped around in the tub for a bit to take different viewpoints of the light playing on water as day turned to evening.

SunWater also offers indoor private tubs for guests who may want a more intimate experience. I found these great for chiller days and when I wanted a deep solitary soak.

One of the things that I love most about SunWater is their dedication to holistic health. In addition to soaking, they treat with massage, watsu (water shiatsu), and other energy modalities. A soak and yoga, followed by a massage felt like the ultimate reset.

Address: 514 El Paso Blvd, Manitou Springs, CO 80829Drive time from Estes Park : About two hours and fifteen minutes.

You can also sign up for classes in the store, s0 give yourself that extra incentive by planning ahead (the busiest seasons tend to be November and early December). Oh – and remember to carry a reusable water bottle with you, as when having fun in hot springs at altitude.

SunWater Spa is a little more out of the way( in Colorado Springs), but it will give you an upscale, modern hot springs experience. For those seeking relaxation and health benefits, along with the natural therapeutic virtues of mineral water.

Hot Sulphur Springs Resort (140 miles)

About 140 miles from Estes Park my journey ended at the historic Hot Sulphur Springs Resort. Though it’s a mere 3-hour drive for those in Colorado, this spot is truly one of the classics and a hot springs destination worth visiting.

Upon arriving, the historical appeal of the resort hit me in waves. Pioneers stumbled upon these natural springs in the 1800s, but they were sacred to Native Americans for hundreds of years before. I lay back in the mineral-rich water and felt instantly a part of this ancient tradition of healing, rejuvenation.

Hot Sulphur Springs Resort has 24 natural mineral pools, which is pretty great. The other thing to know about Pammukale is that each pool has a different condition (especially character, temperature and mineral content) from one another. I took hours just hopping all the different temps which run from a blissful 95 to an exhilarating12 degrees F.

I love that the pools are split up between different levels of this resort. From pool to next, I had different perspectives of the mountains and also got a glimpse at the Colorado River. Seeing the snow-capped peaks from a hot spring gives you feel attached to nature, it’s really magical.

The resort boasts indoor and outdoor pools: an ideal location no matter the season. My favorite was the outdoor pools, in cool temperatures and a clear night sky where you could see every star while keeping warm by floating around. The cold mountain air compared to the steaming hot mineral water is hard if you beat.

Hot Sulphur Springs Resort — the ultimate retreat for any hot springs lover, especially those who want a more therapeutic experience. Als waters are minerally-rich with calcium, magnesium and potassium. I have always found that I feel rejuvenated and my muscle pains are relieved when soaking for an extended time as do many other visitors.

For those seeking a little extra relaxation the resort also offers massage services as well. What better way to end a day of soaking (amongst other things) than by getting a massage?

Address: 5609 County Rd 20, Hot Sulphur Springs, CO -80451 Estes Park Distance: Roughly around 140 miles

Pro-tip: Bring water and flip flops for an easier time walking from pool to pool. The hot water and high altitude are a dehydrating combination so make sure to drink lot of fluid while you’re there.

And though it might still be on the farther end of your hot springs journey from Estes Park, Hot Sulphur Springs Resort has so many pools (and history and views) you should make a specific trip out here. If you ever find yourself in need of sore muscle relief; or maybe just a little peace and quiet for your next mountain getaway, this resort offers up an authentic hot springs experience throughout Colorado.

Radium Hot Springs — 159 miles

I cruised to a hidden gem in Radium Hot Springs, driving 3.5 hours from Estes Park and covering about 159 miles on the way. A little rustic gem in a remote locale, this place is worth the trek for those who appreciate excitement alongside relaxation.

Radium Hot Springs This spot is going to be less developed than the others we have listed, taking a more rustic and in nature approach. When I arrived at the site, it made quite some impression on me with a beautiful setting right along aside to Colorado River. The hot spring pool sits right along the river, meaning you can soak while listening to your healing waters.

The simplicity of Radium Hot Springs is what truly makes it unique. No fancy facilities here, just a warm spring pool amidst the untamed wilderness of Colorado. The actual pool is kind of small by any measure-perhaps the size of a large hot tub-but it has character to spare and charm in spades.

The way the hot bubbly spring mixes with cold river water where they meet is one of the cooler parts about this spot. I felt the dynamic surrounding warmth and cool currents dance through me as I slid below, a new sensation every moment. Mother Nature, in her wisdom helps to maintain that spa-like feel with a little air conditioning of the elements

Even though it’s called Radium Hot Springs, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the water is entirely devoid of smell.
